SHOETREES!

Shoe care is such an important part of owning shoes. With most shoes if all you do is take care of them they will last you longer than if you did nothing to care for them. The number one thing you can do to increase the life span of your shoes, is use SHOETREES.

You have somewhere around 250,000 glands in each foot. Which can produce close to a pint of sweat per day. Leaving this amount of moisture and salt in your shoe will destroy it over time. Shoetrees are made to remove this moisture and hold the shoes in their original shape and even help with stinky shoes. A proper set of Shoetrees will be made of cedar, because its one of the most absorbent and resilient woods. When you use Shoetrees, your shoes will feel better every time you put them on. Without Shoetrees, shoes tend to shrivel as they dry, and thus creating a tight fit when its time to wear them again. If that sweat is left in the shoe, it will rot the from the inside and destroy the shoe completely. Do yourself a favor next time your in the market for a pair of shoes, buy the shoetrees.Your feet and your shoes will thank you.

spring fashions 2010

As we head into spring, the warmer weather and sunshine brings out the boat shoes. A great dress casual shoe with jeans or khakis, and soft leather uppers for long-lasting comfort. Great for a day on your boat or a night out, most boat shoes come with water-resistant leathers, and their slip resistant soles keep you upright on even the slickest of surfaces. Great for shorts or pants, boat shoes can create a great dress look with a pair of khakis and a navy blazer. They also work great with a pair of jeans and a polo, or at the beach with your trunks and a T-shirt. Any classic brown boat shoe works great in your wardrobe, like the Sperry A/O pictured above. Here I also have a green Ralph Lauren that will add some color to any spring outfit.

Here are a couple of other ideas I have in my closet.

“The Slip” from John Varvatos, in a firebrick red that has been distressed to give these boat shoes a real vintage look.

Finally, the inventor of the boat shoe. Sperry Top-Sider, featured is a A/O Chukka style with pony hair accents. The contrast sole, along with the pony hair give this boat shoe a trend look for the spring.

Vans Era white/black

Vans have become a favorite of mine, because of their simplicity and their range of color. I can find a classic style that I know looks good, in just about any color I want. I chose the Era here because of the color combo, whats more classic than black and white. A great shoe for the summer days without socks, another reason Vans are a favorite in my collection.

reminiscent of warm weather.

Puma Street Cruiser Mid Ducati is a shoe that defines a whole season for me. Baseball season. I love Cardinals baseball, and these are a great representation of team pride. The White/Red color combo is perfect for a home game, and the baseball like stitching creates an authentic baseball feel.  With a nice Pujols jersey and Beer, these shoes are a perfect match for a true Cardinals fan.

Shoes that make a Collection.

Adidas Adi-Color Kermit the Frog

Adidas has always made great limited edition stuff, and these are no exception. A line which was redesigned in 2006, brought a certain “character” to new sneakers. This hot green pair of “Kermit the Frog” shoes is one of the best. Number four of a seven shoe series, the Kermit was a part of a collection that included Mr. Happy, Tron, Betty Boop, and some others. This has become a favorite in my collection……I guess i just like Sesame Street.

Style and Class.

Magnanni Torino Mid-Brown

Magnanni is one of my very favorite brands. Their high-end spanish design and hand finishing techniques make their shoes some of the best in the world. This Magnanni Torino is no exception, with great style this slip-on mixes excellent color with a modern gold bit to tie it all together. This shoe takes a traditional design and makes it trendy. Just one of the reasons this brand and this shoe are two of my favorites.

Some of my own Favorites.

Florsheim By Duckie Brown. The US Patriot Boot

I thought I would start with some of my own shoes. To give my readers an idea of my style. So the first few shoes i have for you are special pieces in my collection that represent a style that defines me.

This first one is a newer addition and immediately becomes one of my favorites. The “Florsheim By Duckie Brown. The US Patriot Boot” is a boot that takes a new look at patriotism. It’s handmade quality and rich leather smell, makes you feel more american just holding them. The limit in their production makes these flags, a special part of my collection.

Introduction.Hello.

Hello, my name is Turner. I help manage a women’s shoe floor at Nordstrom West County , in St. Louis. Besides working on one of the biggest shoe floors in St. louis, I also find myself spending free time (and money) in other shoe stores around the city. I have collected over 220 pairs of shoes and coveted many more. I have worked in shoes for 7 years now, and try to keep up with current trends and fashions for both men and women.

My vision for this blog is to educate and create discussions about popular or not so popular shoes. Most of my posts will be about men’s shoes. However, once in a while I’ll find a women’s shoe worth talking about.  I will show “ways to wear” and “ways to care” for you or the man in your life, and will have examples from my closet or links to places you can find them.

So if you are in to shoes or just looking for some new ideas, come on back or email me @ turner.seline@gmail.com
